Dog License tag ?

I found a dog tag that says The Humane Society, Rochester NY #6716 Call GR 3-7240.
Can anyone give me an age on this?

Shape ? Color ? metal used ? all make a difference most recently most tags are colored aluminum
& oval

GR 3-7240. sounds late 50's 60's to me

So Jeff nailed down the earliest probable date. I'll nail down the latest. Pre 1968 in all likelihood. I believe the phone company did away with the letter prefixes around that time frame.
