Does Minelab make FIRMWARE updates for their MD's (Equinox)?

So, am i to believe Minelab has given several of its detectors the capability of updates but has yet to deliver any? Please say it isn't so!

do you have an equinox?
do you have a Mine lab?
do you drive a car?
or would you take a cab?

Do you have no ham?
Do you not like spam?
Will you not eat it from a can?
Must you rip it from a bone?

I just updated mu equinox 800 now its super awesome....

They is them, we is us and we are just supposed to buy from them and smile!

Truth being told, I have no idea why they did a few of the things they did with this release. Some just don't make sense. Like no "S" handle!

Fuceye, I didn't realize the list was that long....was probably taking a cat nap.
Tell us again where the bad man from minelab touched you? Lol. You know you don't have to buy a minelab if you don't like them right? There are many other manufacturers that would be happy to take your money.

And many of us don't like S shafts so that is not an issue. It is just a preference and minelab went with what the majority want which is a straight shaft. They made a wise choice.

I don't anticipate an update anytime soon but I would imagine there will be at least one update available before they shift focus to other machines coming out down the road. That is just my opinion I have no inside knowledge to back that up.

No manufacturer with a brain would make their detector software open source. If they did, my EQX would be completely different from your's and different from the new buyers. Then you would have people making random software changes just like they do now with random settings changes but in much deeper ways. Then 90% of people would be complaining because their new Minelab sucked when the truth is that they messed it up with all their random changes to the software. Bottom line, it would only be a downside for Minelab.

Well Android, IOS, MacOS, and Linux are all open source or open source at the core, and seem to be doing ok.

I'd be surprised if there is a firmware update but I'd SURE LOVE TO SEE ONE.

IMO they would be stupid not to do at least ONE just to say they did ... because a firmware upgradeable multifreq machine for $699 is a HUGE selling point.

And one $50 cheaper than that is even better. ;) :laughing7:
