I know this is a weird question, but my wife is very sensitive to smells and I'm worried that electrolysis is going to stink up the house, even if I do it in my work area in the basement. Also, where do you dump out the stuff once done? Is the leftover liquid toxic?
Just Google that question and there seems to be a "not in an enclosed area"
I might be wrong but it produces gases.
Should be done in a well ventilated environment.

If a person had a old range hood, vented outside then it would be a workable solution.

Myself and the Mrs are sensitive to odors and doing things like this would be a outside project.
I soak a few items in a non-toxic rust remover. Takes a long time though to achieve the best results.

I hope folks that do it all the time respond to your query.

I use a well-ventilated area(machine shed). I’ve never noticed a smell. However, I do a very small tank; probably 3/4 gallon. I don’t know about the liquid waste. I’m assuming water, iron and cleaning powder should not be left accessible to children or animals.

Please keep in mind that if you choose stainless steel as your sacrifice, the resulting gas can be very dangerous if you are inside or unventilated. I use sntainless but my setup is safely out of doors. The remaining water is dumpable but I wouldn't drink it...lol
