Does anyone use Fisher mds

I love my Fisher Metal Detectors

I have:
(2) Fisher F2's - one with 10" concentric & one with 4" sniper coil
(1) Fisher F5 - Standard Coil
(1) Fisher F75 Limited (Camo Version) - 11" DD

I thought long and hard between Fisher & Garrett. After really REALLY long research. I was happy I chose Fisher over the rest.

I'm guessing the thread was posted in the other forum first,,,,,Anyway, I've said it before, I'll say it again,,,,Ford Dodge and Chevy, which is better,,,,I've had the Ace series, 150-250-350 while I'll admit I never gave the 350 much of a chance, and had an immediate buyer when I decided to sell it. I will say that it taught me the usefulness of the DD coil. I hated the service I received from Garrett when I would call with a problem, I'm just not a Garrett fan, I've used the Ace line, I've played around with the AT Pro, and I can tell you, I don't understand why the ACE line is so popular. I'm willing to bet that "Woof" would agree with me here, for those who know, and know who woof is on here. "Price" does not make the detector. Nor does the "explained" model. IE: Beginner model, Intermediate model. Every manufacture has all the so called different model types. I happen to love my F-2 and my Discovery 2200 and honestly will never get rid of my old Tracker IV. I've used the Teknetics T2 the Omega, Fisher F-5 and have friends with the G2 and a lot of the different White's models. The Fisher F-2 is a so called beginner model, so is the Ace 250 that others in this thread have suggested you buy. I can't say for the others, but I can say I had the whole Ace line, and I didn't like the bell tone, I didn't like the set search modes of operation and the 350 only had 12 target segments. The Fisher F-2 shows 11 target segments, but will give you 95 different VID numbers for what the target might be. (more information) adds show it only has 3 search modes, but its really more because of how the notch system works. The ace line basically uses a type of notch out feature, when you go from Coin mode to jewelry mode, but they count it as 2 different search modes. I tell everyone, go look at as many models as you can. treat it like your buying a truck. If you're brother is a Dodge fan but you like what you seen in the Ford, buy the Ford. I have dealt with White's, Garrett and First Texas, and I have been treated extremely well from First Texas. Fisher is owned by First Texas Products.

I have an F4 with 11"DD and 4" coils and an ACE350 with 8.5x11, 5x8, and 4.5" coils. Lately, I've been using the ACE more than the F4 and have proven to myself that I like the F4 better. The F4 shines no matter what I'm searching for, where the ACE seems to be built as a relic machine. Looking at the display, the ACE is limited in what it will tell you. Dimes and quarters are on the same notch!

If you are in the market, check out the F5 and Teknetics Omega. Specs wise, they appear to be the same machine under the skin. The F5 uses potentiometers to adjust disc, sens, thresh, etc, and the Omega uses the touchpad. Both are the same frequency with many of the same features. That said, I'm wanting an F75 (std or SE/LTD) for my next machine. I'll be selling my ACE and Tejon first and only ditching the F4 after I get the F75. The Minelab X-terra series detectors are great as well. I have owned two X30's and would like to own a 505 or 705, but I'm really wanting the F75 the most.

I use the fisher F2 and have much success from it. Very reliable and easy machine to use and the f4 is pretty much its big brother with the difference of manually ground balancing or something.

I own a couple of Fishers. Both great machines!
F2 = More capable than it's price would indicate. More impressive than the Ace series, Compadre, CoinMaster Pro and most (if not all) BH's IMO!
CZ-3D = Love this detector! Can't praise it enough. Love how it high tones on all coins including nickels. Especially tuned for old nickels and it picks em out amongst the pull tabs. Never getting rid of this one!

I got a F2 for Christmas. Any pointers?

Notch out iron, run the sense as high as area will allow & keep your swing speed reasonable. Other than that, there isn't much to it. Have fun with it.
The F2 is a very capable detector. Especially for it's price.

My kids surprised me this year with an F5! (Christmas)

Funny thing is I had no idea it was coming and I had already got my 7 yr old grandson a kids Bounty Hunter. For 35 bucks it works great and seems plenty rugged. Now we can go hunt together!!! (after I learn mine of course)
