a little more info would be nice like I see remainders of letters. any kind of attaching it like a clip pin? location
 

What type of metal does it look like it's made from and what size are we looking at?
 

I'm pretty sure that you have here is a British Badge - Life Guards, George VI, brass slide badge (see pic below). The letters "GR" under the crown, stand for "George Rex", or King George. Glad I could help. I used to do Revolutionary War reenacting so noticed the GR immediately, just knew it was probably George VI not the III... I'd try looking on ebay or somewhere & see what they're selling for. Not a fortune, but still a neat piece.
