I saw a musket for sale at an estate sale today. The stock is in bad shape. The flint lock mechanism is gone. The barrel is in really good shape. It was very heavy and I believe it is genuine. The price was $100. It will be $50 if it’s still there on half price day. Anyone know what would the barrel alone be worth? I think that’s the only part left that has any value

Round barrel? How long? Cal.?ignition? Just curious.

Wished you'd taken a picture of it. There's a lot to consider there. Was it made by a highly desirable gunsmith and what kind of condition is it in. Any chance you can ask the seller why they want that much money for it?

I think it was hex or octagonal. The price is what it is because I think the estate company didn’t know what value to put on it.
