Hi Spartan,

There are lots of ghost towns and mining towns, forts, camps. I know that I have at least one ghost town book on Utah. When I get a few minutes I will locate it and post the info for you. There is a CD with a bunch of old maps on it available too. Here is a site with an list of some GT and pics. http://www.cultimedia.ch/ghosttowns/

There's Truelove Manheart's bonanza strike of 1885.A ledge of gold between Park City and Hayden Fork located on the edge of the Hayden Fork section. Assayed as a very rich find but Manheart could not find his way back as a forest fire was started by accident destroying the landmarks.

Yep!
And if a person would head on down to the nearest Public Library.
Find the Local history section..
You'll find all you can the "Leads" that you can handle!
OH! JUST!
Remembered, I have a book around here, somewhere, on JUST! Utah Treasures ..
Until I got it, yrs & yrs ago, I never realized just how much History and treasure there was!
In fact, the trail from Santa Fe to Utah is actually worn in, about A FOOT DEEP!
That's a lot of traffic! :P
It also, has bunch of treasure & "leads" along it's length.
I have a bunch of treasure "leads" myself.
Ones that I have come across over the yrs!
So!
I can see that from the stories/leads yhay have been sent in and other references, You'll have no shortage of places to go!
A BIT, On the personal side !!!
But, What's your capability?
Can you go back into the "Boonies" and stay awhile?
Got a 4wd, have some camping experience, etc?

I know of a gold bar that was found recently over the hill from a mine near Park City. Several bars were stolen from the mines smelter one day and were not recovered. The finder showed a check from a local refiner written for the value of a 100 ounces by my calculations at the current spot price. The location was near Deer Valley.

Cptbil,

"Morman silver coins" were actually Mormon gold coins first minted by Brigham Young in 1849. Two and half, five, ten, and twenty dollar gold coins were struck between 1849 and 1850. And you're right Cptbil if you are lucky enough to find one of these gold coins you may well be able to retire. A ten dollar Mormon gold coin was listed at $150,000 dollars in a New York auction house.

What people don't understand is that there are Mormon gold coins still to be found, but you have to do your research. The Mormons homesteaded all over the west. Keep to the years 1849 to 1860 and search the Mormon archives if you have access. There's one place I've got to get too before the snow flies this winter. If you need more info on Mormon coins go to www.coinsmith.com. Here's to finding more of "Brigham's Bees"!

I was up there looking into the carre shinob and the rhoades mines. interesting it was. Hard to decide if it was worth putting much time into, but you might want to pursue it since you aaare up there.

The Rhoades thing is a grabber remember that you are looking for gold that isn't yellow if you make the trip. I think that explains a lot about why Rhoades was not concerned that it would be found by anyone else according to the legend.

The Cave of the Golden Jesus is one that is suppose to be in your area. According to the story several Mexicans raided a number of churches in Sonora and Arizona, capturing a large amount of gold and silver in the form of church relics. One of these was was a four foot tall statue of Jesus on the cross made of pure gold. They fled north to avoid authorities -- and somewhere in the Fifty Mile Mesa area they stashed all of the relics in a cave because the authorities were getting closer. They were also desperate for water. Reportedly the relics have never been found. I couldn't begin to tell you the Indian spelling of Fifty Mile Mesa (as the maps carry it) but it is in your area. A little research may prove rewarding. This has been referred to as "The /cave of the Golden Jesus."

Do a Google search of Lost treasure in Utah, Lost Mines in Utah, Outlaw caches in Utah.
You should get the Idea after a couple of these.
