Someone should email him and ask him. The sale is over he may be honest. It was a very odd lot of coins and tokens. He's a power seller but may not sell very many coins with that odd lot. :-\ Some nice presidential tokens worth a buck each and an old Chinese cash coin.

to be honest, good fakes can slip through the best dealers & even have been recorded with museums in the UK. Problem works both ways though, he could have thought it fake & it be real. Some as I said before are real gold (i handled a excellent fake like this) but the type used is normally always off weight. ie. a bit light. So unless he has some specialist experience, then he may get it wrong either way.

Possibly a copy. The coin in the link from sasnz has a longer thinner neck.

Also the writing to the left of Caesar's face extends under the neck on the ebay coin. Big difference here, the two definitely do not match. It does look like gold though.

I was wondering if anyone out there has ever seen anything like this token I found recently, even something simular? I am totally puzzled. I think the B.F.L stands for Billards,Furniture,Lamps &CO. I have been to my local library and came home empty. I wrote to M.P from Wet he was stumped. Any thoughts or suggestions Thanks Much.

This is not a good way to tell an ancient fake, as these differences happen with the real coins. Depending on where they were minted, which area of the mint they were done (seconde etc..) & the die variants used over the years.
