Do you ever see something "STRANGE" out of the corner of your eye.....

Re: Do you ever see something "STRANGE" out of the corner of your eye.....

There's a 200 acre tract of woods west of Boston which I've hiked for nearly 20 years.

I hike it 2 or 3 times a week and had always gotten a strange feeling along one particular section of trail.

One time saw a person standing by a tree at this section of trail, but when I got up to him he was gone.
I thought it was Goth kid (dressed in all black and wearing a hood) smoking weed or something, and I was going to acknowledge him and keep going. He was there for a maybe 5 seconds, and then when I got up to him, he wasn't there. There was no one around.

In the following weeks other odd things happened at this tree and after those experiences, for a long while I avoided this section of trail ‘cause I was spooked, even though I’m old enough to be very skeptical.

Then 2 months ago I stopped at this tree to examine it more closley. I walked behind it and found someone had placed a clay amulet on the tree. This was a shock. This is just a random tree on a random section of trail. There is nothing obviously unique about it, but someone else must be feeling the same vibes from this tree or this spot.

Over the past 2 months I've begun researching the history of this place.
There's a lot more to this story.

I heard that moses (bible) broke mirrors claiming they were evil.

Just out of curiosity, were they glass mirrors like we have today sometimes called a "looking glass," or were they polished metal?
Seems to me that polished metal would be very hard to "break" and glass was a long way off.

Menotomymaps, It sounds interesting. When you get a chance, fill us in on the rest of the story.

Here’s a picture of the amulet. The white stuff over its head is snow.
I left that little piece of pottery you can see underneath its chin as a token to whoever left it.
I have since replaced that pottery shard with a small plastic baggie with a pencil and paper in it.

There are a bunch side stories to this – all of them happening right now.
Let me say about the pottery shard. My daughter and I found it about ½ mile away in another section of these woods a few years ago.
One spring we were looking at the stones in a snowmelt stream and found it along with other shards.

She’s away at college now, but when she was home for winter break recently we went out to check on the amulet and the note I had left. No one had responded. So we continued our hike and walked though the section where we had found the pottery… And we found another amulet!

But now a few weeks later that second amulet is gone.

I’ve been researching this area and found some aerial photographs from the 1930s and there is writing on one of the photos near the first spot.

More when I have a chance.

This part of the story probably isn't anything important, but it is part of the story...
I found some aerial photographs of this spot from the 1930s. One set I obtained at my local US Dept of Argiculture and the other I sent for on-line.
The on-line version had some writing on it. The writing appears in a field about 20 yards from the tree where I found the amulet.
I've tried to figure out what it says, but have had no luck. It might be some kind of surveying reference?

Regarding covering mirrors during shiva or the period of mourning seems tomore to do with the desire to set aside all things associated with vanity for the 30 days that you sit shiva or mourn than anything else.

The Victorians had a more sinister belief, I pulled this off of Ask.com:The Victorian era held many superstitions about death. While the deceased's body was in the house, all mirrors were to be covered in black material. The Barton Upon Humber Family History Aid website explains that this ensured "that the soul of the departed would not get trapped behind the glass and be prevented from passing to 'the other side,'" Similar to the ancient superstitions, the Victorians also believed that "if you saw your own reflection in a room where someone had just died, then you would soon die yourself."

Chuppacabras - out of the corner of my eye.

Only at night and when i am alone, watching TV etc - usually I clean my glasses and they go away - I've convniced myself its "reflections on the insie bottom corners of my glasses (I have glasses like the bottom of two coke bottles like Mr Magoo)!

Its much easier too sleep at night if I believe in reflections than chupacarbra's!

I never see nekkid swimsuit models out of the corner of my eye!

Life is so unfair!

If life was fair - the chupacabra's would eat the swimsuits off the models! :hello2: :laughing7:

Cheers!

Now that's odd.
I was focusing on what looked like writing on the aerial photo.
Tracing the edges makes it look like some 'thing' else!

I Once Saw a Brush Fire In The Woods At Night About 20 Yars Wide
Being a Firefighter I Investagated When I Got Closer To The Spot It Was Gone
That Morning I Went Out There Again And There Were No Traces Of Any Fire Anywhere

I've never seen anything that would convince me that ghosts actually do exist and I'm pretty skeptical of darn-near everything.
I'll be sitting on the couch and I'll catch a quick, split-second glance of what appears to be a person standing in the kitchen, but it appears and disappears so quickly that I wonder if it was really there most of the time...
This happens all over the house.....I see "stuff" for just a fraction of a second and it's gone. Most of the images look like skin-colored blurs.
Anybody else have anything similar to this going on or am I just crazy?Z

Z, if it doesn't scare you it's probably a relative or Guardian Angel, or maybe they're the same. I talk to mine all the time. I call him Dad and he helps me solve problems and find the tool or keys or glasses I just had and now can't find.

Don't know the truth but what's the harm? :)
