Spending the weekend at my parents place with my 8 year old son so we decided to try the back yard to see if we could find some of my old Hot Wheels from when I was his age. Sure enough, three targets in and out pops a fire truck I lost 35 years ago. I distinctly remember this one too...amazed it was about 3 inches down but we never dug up the back yard while playing.

Also found an old Austin hood ornament, a local dog tag from 1980, a 1960 silver dime and a nitro moment...thought for sure I had a gold pendant but it's plated. Still, fun digging up some memories!

Congratualtions on the back to childhood relic quest, you did well! :occasion14:

Cool. I see lots of people collect these, post these toys found. I leave them where found for some other kid to "discover"..Except for the couple I found in my own yard, which like yours, were mine.

That's awesome....believe it or not when I got my first detector at 13 yrs old I detected my mom and dad's black dirt pile that I played on around 7 yrs old. I found my first Silver, a 1898 O Silver Barber dime. They had the dirt brought in from some field a few miles South of town years before. I still have it...

Nice finds Romeo but priceless when hunting with our son and building memories! Thanks for sharing...

Nothing better than hunting with your son. Lots of good stories to tell him while you’re hunting. Especially when you found your old fire truck. Keep smiling and digging. Congrats.

Thats pretty cool, time capsule. Me and my dad buried some stuff in the 80's and found it later, was neat to see what and how I wrote things back then. I know it was deeper but I think mowing the lawn and constantly placing material over top gave it layers. Hopefully your son will continue a new tradition from this.. neat digs.

Nice rescue of the rescue vehicle.....But even nicer of a rescue of memories and some quality time with junior.

IS IT FOR PLYMOUTH OR REO ????????????????????
