Relic Hunting
We just got back from yet another exciting hunt in beautiful Culpeper Virginia. The weather couldn't have cooperated any better. It was Sunny, and in the 60's for most of the venue. We started out the traditional pre meeting Thursday evening, then headed to our Hotels afterward to set up our machines and get ready for the next three days of digging. Some amazing finds were dug this weekend including Tony's Virginia tongue buckle on top in the banner, a beautiful pure silver CW ID tag, an amazing full CS Tongue & Wreath buckle plus a few other cool finds. I wont lie to you, it was real tough hunting, but we still had fun. These hunts are becoming a PI machine must have to find the relics. I feel bad for those that have come and found nothing. It's something you should try once anyway in my opinion. I managed to find some cool finds including a really sweet heavy duty sword hangar, a solid Eagle Infantry button, ramrod guide, and a handful of broken buttons and flat buttons. One of the cooler finds for me were the carved "trench art" pieces carved by a Civil war soldier 160 or so years ago.

Thanks for looking

Awesome finds Mike. I sure did hate missing that hunt and I am so forward to the spring DIV and RR hunts. You have got that Minelab GPX mastered and I agree that those are the machines to use on those hunts. It is like hunting virgin land on hunted out sites. Take care my friend and we will get a hunt in very soon.

Thank you Randy. Yes indeed, there is an advantage using these machines these days .

Great looking assortment of finds, Mike! :icon_thumright:

Maybe I can get in on the fun at the spring hunts... it just never seems to fit my work schedule. :(

Great job Mike! I really liked seeing all the brass you pulled out of that heavily hunted area on day 3. Shows how skillful you are with your machine.

It was a real pleasure meeting you, and thanks for driving. I look forward to hunting with you again in the future!

And you as well Tony. You aint so bad with your machine either!

Nice finds Mike. I had to miss this one, but I have hunted Coles Hill and Hansborough Ridge on previous DIV's. Your ramrod guide looks colonial.

I hope to be at one of the spring hunts.

How can I get included in one of these hunts? I always see people talking about these big hunts but have never been able to find any. I'm in Maine so I don't think there are any up here but I am willing to travel! Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!!!!

What is the piece in the 5th picture? (I have a thought but want yours?)
