Digging quartz in dirt and mud in the side of a hill some clear nice shape, mostly white the vien is thinning out what color of dirt should I follow the red orange blue or the blue ,green stuff

Well, the red is probably iron, but it also could be mercury ore, and the blue could be silver. The guys that discovered the Comstock Lode in Nevada were looking for gold, and were upset with the blue clay that kept clogging their sluice. Come to find out the blue clay was very rich in silver, if I remember correctly almost pure silver.

My wife and i use to dig in the mines in Arkansas. We always had the best luck in Red mud that was like peanut butter if it is wet.The red is Iron and has the best Crystals. At least that is how it works at Miller Mountain.Good luck and let us see what you find.

The red is what I usually found quartz in here in Ca. it sounds like it is blue clay and red clay and possibly grey we used to give a lot of the red to a local potter and she loved it.The blue and the grey were harder to find for us.
