That flake was found about 18 inches give or take 4 or 5 inches the other was a wash out from the bank in a creek I find them that color around 24 to 32 inches depending on the bank and lay of the land I find this color and stain from 16 to 20 inches ... It's crazy they normally are orange with black stains and it's the same in two different creek coincidence ???

Atleast this time it's a new home no crap haha yes it does look like that piece have you found out what time period yours is ?? Thanks all for the comments I can't wait to dig some more tomorrow hope something else pops out

nice to be able to make some finds while at work. Those are some sweet looking tools. The 3rd pic looks kinda familiar.... <img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=912197"/>
That piece is very pretty !!!

My excitement is also full of worries I always know that the possibility of breakage is there that flake really got lucky

I have heard of people digging 16 ft deep in TN and finding artifacts. Just through other people that have family living there.

I have found facts pretty deep over 5 6 feet in the red dirt and flint zone I hit it sometimes at just one ft and other places over 7 or 8 feet deep I put the tank in today my hole was 7 ft deep I hit red at 2 feet and in the red you will find the flint nodules I will get a picture tomorrow before I cover it

It's like clay and dirt I don't really know witch so I am gonna have to research it I do know there are not many small rocks just large round nodules

There is more flint here than you could imagine . If you told me to stop in any spot and dig I would have no problem hitting some flint 80 percent of the time

Here is the only other piece I found at the sewer sight

Your area is like one gigantic quarry site. That stuff was being mined for thousands of years there it's everywhere isn't it?
Hardly a piece that hasn't had some flakes knocked off of it at one time from what it looks like.
I would imagine on many occasions the same piece of stone had chips removed by a native hundreds if not thousands of years apart.
Do you find any with substantially different looking patina in different areas that have been chipped?

For sure gator many pieces have different patina I found this 10 minutes before dark in my creek as you can see the different colors in patina
I also have several points that have been reworked as well
