I have been down to the local swim hole a few times to get an idea of how my new detector works. So far it has been accurate in guessing what I am about to dig, that?s why I got confused yesterday when on a foil signal the only thing that I pulled from the sand was a twig about two inches long and maybe as big as my pinky finger. I brushed the twig away and rescanned the hole, nothing. Out of curiosity I walked over to the discarded twig and got a strong foil signal. This was very confusing so I picked up the twig to investigate and to my surprise I found that it was not a twig but something with a soft consistency. That?s when it hit me that my ?twig? was actually a dog turd with a nice piece of foil inside! :o

What, you're detector won't discriminate out dog turds? I was also wondering what the dog turd icon looks like? Excellent !! Monty

Thanks for the laugh, AC. I'll have to remember to be careful about those tootsie rolls that beep.

That is too funny!lol On a related topic,i dug a hole today and when refilling it went to put a "rock"back in the hole and relized that it was a soft pliable rock,if you get my drift!

THere ya go, if you can't afford a sand scoop maybe you can modify a pooper scooper. ;)

That reminds me of the Springer I use to have. My daughter and her friends were having a sleep over and they wanted Maddie to sleep in the tent with them. In the morning was an arguement because one of the kids dollar was missing. They were all mad at each other and called each other the usual names, you wouldn't have thought they were friends at all. The next day I was out mowing the lawn and using the pooper scooper and what did I find a large pile with chewed up dollar in it. Needless to say no one was intested in getting the dollar back at that time. She was a character I think about her and her excapades frequently. :)

Now that is too funny!! I once got a great dime hit right over a fresh steaming pile in a housing area. It showed deep enough to be under it, so I cut a rather large plug and moved the pile with it. Got a nice silver roosie! Luckily it was not actually in the pile.
