have quite a large collection that I love and have no clue what they are.

I did buy a diamond tester and recently was going through my finds to see if anything was worth keeping.(I have sooooooo many) my sunroom is starting to look like a small mine. I have smashed a lot with a hammer while going through a geode faze and while checking this rock I got this......... ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1442237042.807720.jpg

Diamond testers are useless for this hobby, sorry. You have some sort of rock. A closeup photo might help, but it's not easy to ID stuff from a photo. Try joining a local rock and gem club, you'll learn a lot!

Cool, but...... I'm not sure how they react on other/regular rock. I know corundum will register a 4 on some.
Did you say these rocks came from beside the Arkansas diamond crater mine? :icon_scratch: :laughing7:
Location of find can be telling, as well. Not knowing location or source :dontknow: Diamonds have been found, in odd places..... :dontknow:
I don't have much else than that. Well this......

I LOVE those little acorns and I have seen them somewhere before! You make those? 8-)

The above posts are right. Diamond testers are to be taken with a pinch of salt. (or rather, a barrel of salt)

Learning a few basics like hardness tests, streak tests etc will be much more helpful. Also asking in this forum isn't such a bad choice. :)
