Xp Deus/Vaquero/At Max/fisher f70/carrot pen pointer
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I’ve been trying to get more depth out of the deus (WS4 11” coil”)
Using 8khz, sens 90, tx 3 silencer 0, reactivity 0 and gb pumping 5 tones.

In my test garden I can hit a silver quarter at 10 inches easily but today at an open field, it ran very erratic and when I move the coil or bumper it again grass it chirps erratically.... and I dug 3 holes with disappearing signals??

Is it my settings??

My ground is very mellow so i don`t try to GB the Deus.i have the same setup as you .
How your ground ?
When i tried the pumping or the tracking method of GB mine did beep at every piece of stubble it ran across or in the woods every tiny tree it touched it beeped.
It never acts up if i run it at 90 try it,still very deep.

Oddly enough it does get erratic when I gb?? This is somewhat confusing since it’s suppose to make the machine match or ignore the grind mineralization. I may try preset 90 and try it out. Thanks!

The reason it seems erratic is that when you GB it or put it in tracking it adjusts the GB to match the ground phase which should be right at the threshold of noise especially if ground phase rises from the GB setting during your search. Another adjustment that can help quiet down the detector while still enabling a precise gb is applying some ground notch (expert setting under GB) which can help quiet things down if using tracking or frequently adjusting ground balance. HTH.

I was GB in the 81 range. I’ve never used ground tracking...What numbers should I notch out?

Well,
For one thing, in your site,,when bobbing coil what does mineralization meter show??
Tx power 3 a no no in my ground.
Will wash out signals, only hurts.

If I seen 4 or more dots in mineralization meter I would lay off Tx power 3.
Use 2 instead.

I see what looks like a suggestion of applying ground notch.
I have never used ground notch much at all.
Btw, my testing using ground notch, can cost you some depth.
Use at own risk.
If I were to use ground notch I would notch 85 up.

SOME open farm field have some kind of fertilizer and makes my machine act wild sometimes. Try lowering the tx to 2 as said above , also you might have to change freq to get it more stable . some places I can run 11kh and then 7kh is better in other places. Fields are tricky sometimes... fertilizer is what I think. The tx being to high might be the problem too.

I am a big fan of 8k... that's pretty much all I use. Similar setting as you but...
I Use GB Tracking.
Sens 88
Desc 10
TX 1
Reac 2.5
Sil -1

Def GB tracking, try some of the others and hope it helps you.
