I was playing with the 10K ring i found a while back and noticed at least while on the surface that the Overload Icon lit up sometimes. Mine is set at "2". I have ignored a few targets where the icon lit up. I don't think this happens with a ring-sized target that is buried, but for surface targets like a good-sized ring, don't trust it. At least i plan to be more careful now and check the target until i know for sure I can trust it.

Rereading the manual, it says: "Allow the user too choose an overload sound when a target is close to the coil." So I guess I misunderstood the whole thing here. I've never heard any overload sound. Maybe that's the double beep? Now I'm not even sure those cross hairs in the horseshoe have anything to do with the overload. And i can't find anything about that icon. Totally confused.

UPDATE: Okay I found a Gary Blackwell video says the icon is the Overload. Also, I rechecked and mine is set at "1". I tried it on "2" and could not tell any difference on the ring or a silver half-dollar. I don't know???&$#^@

UPDATE @: I just tired it on a silver dime and it lit up. i am even more confused. Just the fact those are cross hairs I think maybe it is a bull's eye indicator.

Confused as to what the issue is here. You are saying you would ignore a surface target merely because you got the overload indication?

Sorry, didn't see your post and made some further updates to my original post. But yes, I thought it meant it was a too-big of a target like can slaw or something. i don't think so now. I just think it is cross hairs to show when you are exactly on the target, probably for surface targets pinpointing. Nothing to do with overload.
