DEUS 1 FOR Beach

Like to know if anyone has used the Deus 1 in the wet and try sand, I know it's not as good as the deus2
But will it work close to that of the equinox 800 to pick up gold rings at the beach,
No offense meant, but how do you know the Deus 1 is not as good in sand as the Deus 2? If you havn,t used either one? Have you used the Equinox 800? Just curious you see.

If any members have experience with the DEUS 1 on the beach and care to comment, it would be much appreciated

The Deus 1 works great in the dry sand. In the wet and salt water......not so much due to it's single (selectable) frequency. The Equinox will run circles around it there. The Deus 2 is true multifrequency like the Equinox, so, I would expect it to be in the same league as the Equinox. I don't have the D2 yet, but, I've used the D1 and Nox.

Believe it or not I was able to get the Deus I very stable and very usable, with decent depth (6-7") in the wet sand at OBX, it would false in the surf and if you brushed he coil in the sand though, this was 7 or 8 years ago and I believe I actually found the youtube video I watch before I went - I also was using the the original LF coil at the time - if I remember correctly I actually had to lower the GB below what the machine was reading, say if it was reading 30, I had to lower it down to 15, which makes no sense.....do this on dry land and the machine really becomes unstable - I found a lot of clad and 3 or 4 junk rings.

When I can get over a foot of depth on a dime with an Equinox, CTX, Etrac, Explorer, Sovereign, Safari, Excalibur, etc, 6-7" is pitiful and not worth the effort, not to mention the sketchy looking waterproof kit, and relatively small coils available on the D1.

That's besides the point....OP asked if the Deus I can run in wet salt....and it can (to a degree)....I wasn't going to buy a beach machine when I live in Ohio and relic hunt 99.9999 percent of the time....haven't detected on a salt beach since.

He asked if the D1 will work close to an Equinox on finding gold rings. In the dry sand, yes.....in the wet and water, no way.
