We've had quite a bit of snow over the past couple days but the ground is still soft so I thought I would get out for a little fresh air and some exercise. Figured since I am going out I may as well take my detector and check out the small site I found last weekend. Picked up a couple buttons and a couple Vickie coppers so figured there would be more there...and I could use the snow to mark my progress...
First target was promising...a holed crusty copper...but it was the second target that got me excited! When I first got it out and it was still mud covered I thought I had found a trade musket serpent side plate. Not sure what it is really but it is very ornate and does look like a serpent or dragon..with a lot of sharp pointy bits!
Find of the day came late in the hunt and it really made my day! It was at the bottom of the site and was a scratchy signal but was also in some iron bits. First Spanish silver of the year...hopefully not the last. My feet were freezing so was only out there for about 90 minutes...but I'll be going back soon. Another blizzard forecast for Tuesday but spring is right around the corner!!
