Hello folks, I'm a noob here and would like to know what the proper disposal techniques are for objects you do not want such as bolts spark plugs etc. do you carry a junk bucket for such items? I have learned from this forum to always leave the area better by replacing plugs and always getting permission first! But I was unsure how to deal with junky items and pull tabs, I assume you don't leave them.... As always thanks to all who post, I really get excited to view the finds forum!

are American Legion does it hope that helps

If it's just a moderately junky spot, I just throw my junk in my pouch with clad and sort it out when I am done. If it a place with lots of junk or large pieces of it, I bring a gallon size Baggie with to stick the stuff in. There have been some sites where I needed to empty the Baggie 3 or 4 times into the parks trash can during the hunt because there was so much.

Wow, Susan
you most be really looking for the gold
I only dig what fooled the detector

Use a finds pouch of some sort to dump all your trash into. There's lots more trash than treasure! Just dump it in the nearest trash can, or your ex-wifes driveway.

if you are hunting shorelines you need to dig everything, because stuff gets deposited in layers, and lots of good targets are masked by crappola. So you need to clear the junk to get the gold.. But it's easy digging if you don't mind playing in the mud.

Always take away all "junk"!
Steel is worth app $255 per ton.
Copper app $2.70 per lb.
Stainless Steel $.60 per lb.
Aluminum $.65 per lb.
It's free money.
Most importantly, it cleans unproductive sites, to reveal productive sites.
Good luck...
Peace

Usually I just pile all my finds in my metal detecting apron, good finds on the right, junk on the left. Needless to say I list to the left. If I get big iron junk along the way I try and find a proper place to dispose of it so I won't have to carry it home.
