In 1993 a World Youth Day Conference was held in Denver. When John Paul II conducted mass on the morning of August 15 an estimated 350,000 people were in attendance. This was the largest crowd ever assembled in Colorado.

I know that detectorists searched the site afterwards and that coins and memorabilia were everywhere. There were also several shotgun shells found, which gave some indication indication of the site's use before the park was built.

Do any forum members remember ... or was one of those detectorists?

Ah well, it was worth a try ... I keep forgetting that not everybody is old and decrepit as yours truly! :laughing7:

I was there selling cotton candy... LoL was busy prospecting the rubes back then to go relic hunting. We'd move up and let them walk past us then move up again. Most money I ever made as a teen before I got a lawn areator and a fertilizer spreader.
