I took the detector out and worked part of a field I don’t usually visit… found some round balls, all different sizes, but no evidence of any structures or non hunting activity… the dark caught me on the other end of the field and as I worked my way back I hit this, I was thinking another round ball when the detector went off instead this popped out. I have a hunch what it is but so far I’m not finding anything really matching it. I don’t want to say just yet so I don’t lead others down the wrong path. I did work it over with a brass brush on a rotary tool, it was pretty crusty and even still has quite a Patina. Anybody know what it is?

Here’s the round balls… and .22’s funny how none are the same size.
