Oxbowbarefoot was kind enough to let a few of us hunt with him today and I found this little piece of brass that is broken up a bit. I hope there is enough there to help Someone ID it. It looks like it broke on all four sides. The longer stem is thicker than the other 3. Thanks again Oxbowbarefoot! I had a great time and I hope you'll be heading out this way soon.

BigChuck seems to be on the right path. Judging by the photos, your find looks like a Victorian 'locket' stick pin, but I don't see points of attachments in the enlarged photo. Can you tell if they were there and now broken off? Neat find :) Breezie

Does look like a Hat/Stick Pin, but could also be a watch winder key....

I don't see anything that looks broken off the back. Looks like its just broke at the stem and the little piece on the left. Maybe the the little Bart on the left was part of a hinge. Ill try looking through some hat pins to see what I can come up with. Thanks

One thing I did notice is the stem has some rings around it. Looks maybe it was being turned into something to cause those rings.

I agree with Silver Searcher and Crusader, as the one shaft portion has the correct size and shape for a Victorian era watch winder stem. 8-)

seperate question, what would have gone in the middle recessed part if it was a watch winder? did they set stones in them??
