Had 2 hammered but in poor condition.
1746 Halfpenny
3 Roman bronzes & 1 of them I could Identify as:
TETRICUS I AD271-274
Rev: Sol advancing Left

A roman lead steel yard weight
A LONDON & ?? Victorian or earlier Brass Mail Coach Tag (I guess)

Mine are roughly about 55% poor, 30% nice, 15% excellent.

Great finds. I always look forward to your post. One of these days when the kid is out of the house I'm going to cross the pond. HH, Eric

Thanks for the kind words. I really enjoy posting all my stuff now. Things will get better in Sep but for the time being I will just have to work at it.

Very nice~

HH

Sweet finds I love those hammys and the copper. Way to go.

Got problems wif da yahds floatin' away over there do we? My only yard weight joke, I rarely get a chance to use it here in the States.

Very beautiful finds, you've found some really nice stuff there.

HH,

Really wonderful finds, hope the sheep remain cooperative, carry a pair of shears just in case you need to defend yourself. :D Those coins are awesome.

Happy Hunting.

Wow Roman era finds....What a great area the UK must be for this hobby!

I am lucky to live in an area which was an important Roman Town in the early years of Roman occuption became less important in the later years, as they had alot trouble with the locals.

Roman stuff is quite common, I would much rather find a nice Medieval hammered coin like Tyre-kicker found recently.

Even better would be Saxon or Viking stuff.

Still dreaming of harvest when I can hit some of my favourite spots & some new land which I'm very hopefully about.

You don't get it if don't work hard & right now times are hard but it makes the good times so much better.

wow that must be an incredible thing to find coins that old and in such good shape congrats and hh

These Roman coins are what we call grotty or grots & are in a bad shape. The good shape ones are much better & go in my album. The next grade in my system is ones like the Tetrius I (Above) where you can seen some details but not many letters. These I hand out to school kids or people with interests when I doing my displays. The worst grade are the blanks which I pile up in a bowl of over 400 now.

Wow...that 1746 is in primo shape! Congrats!

Very true, most of them come out in worst shape than the Roman Coins.
