As some of you might have seen Saturday was a stellar day for us at the French site. Sunday we went back, but didnt hunt all day. The finds were not as exciting as the day before, maybe due to the fact we were a little sore, or to the fact that the ground dried out a little. Nonetheless we still had a fun day ending the hunt at the local pub for a few celebratory refreshments. I did dig a few musketballs, a tiny French button with shank, and some interesting pieces of brass. I think one is what some call a toe tap, and is probably mid to late 1800s. The other pieces of brass im not so sure about. The site has an 1890s home on it, and we do make some finds from that era at this place; however, alot of the finds are much older. Due to my limited colonial knowledge i try not to discard anything im unsure about. Id love some help with ID's. Especially this one interesting item that looks like some sort of a brass plate. Ive just begun cleaning it and its not in the best shape, but so far it looks like it has a winged figure holding a staff. The figure appears to be riding a serpent/fish snake looking creature. It was dug in an area where we have dug many French Colonial Marines buttons, etc Almost forgot i also dug a large iron Hoe. I was wondering if someone could put a date on this one. I may repost more pics as i get these items cleaned up a bit Thanks for looking.

Congrats on digging more relics. :occasion14: Keep the posts coming.

The one in the bottom picture is called an adze.

That adze looks like a more modern example, probably associated with the 1890s house. Although intended for squaring logs they were often repurposed as hoes or mattocks. Nice finds, good luck finding more French relics.

That seems like a good site. Good luck pulling more French colonial coins!
