Dangerous Snake Encounters

My Self I was down in the Vicksburg Mississippi area. We was in a area that had some sugar canes. I was swinging a detector and all of a sudden I felt something moving under my foot. I looked down and there was a small rattlesnake trying to squirm either away or at me but a sugarcane prevented it from getting at me. I jumped back and it squirmed away. It happened so fast I did not have time to be scared till AFTER !!!! I told Robert my hunting buddy from there and he told me I should ONLY wear a head phone on ONE EAR. I SAID ONE EAR WHY DID YOU TELL ME THIS BEFORE and he said he figured I already knew about it

Luckily in my neck of the woods (NYC Suburbs) not many that I know of. Just a few small garden snakes I encountered years ago. Probably a few rattlers around I’m sure.

Yes there is up there. Probably timber rattlers

Reason I ware a gross legs protection is precisely because a rattlesnake try to bite me, it was scare, before of that experience I thought just in cartoons hair is signal of of someone is scare about something, but that day I experience by myself that my hair was like electrify.

Day after of that experience I order my leg protectors, ( chaparreras).

I yield so loud and my friends were laughing about me, some of them watched when I jumped back.
when that snake shoot a bite was a signal of alert more than an attack.

Ohh boy.

Thank you. I am in Odessa, TX... the middle of nowhere!! lol, it's about 4 hours to the nearest big city, El Paso or Dallas. But, this is the major oil-producing region in the USA, it's called the Permian Basin. I have a local boot repair guy, I bet he can make me a pair. Thanks.

I have yet to see a snake while detecting but I did see my first coral snake ever last year in the rock pile near the driveway.

Yes, unfortunately. They will come out on warm days to get some sun. We are loaded with Rattlesnakes. My number one prospect for detecting is an old Army Air Force base from WWII called Rattlesnake Bomber Base. It was at one time the largest pilot training school in the USA.
