To make a long story short....Schloopy invited me for a weekend hunt at his Honey Hole.....It turned out to be almost 23 hours of grueling hunting. I warned Schloopy from the begging that I was a Power Hunter!!!!! Ha, ha! We had little sleep, (since I arrived at 11pm the previous night and we got up at 5 am and started hunting at 6am) it was in the 90's....We were tired, dizzy, hot, sunburned, and just down right beat after it was all over. I want to say thank you to Schloopy for allowing me the honor of hunting this spot... It was an awesome spot. One you have to hunt to believe. Like I said in my post a few weeks ago some TH'ers are stingy with their good spots or Honey Holes as I call them....Fortunately I have hunting partners that like to share the finds......Relikhunter, Schloopy and Renegade7 to name a few....This week it was Schloopy and I.
I will not list John's finds as it is his duty to brag about his goodies....I will post pics of both though...To distinguish the two I will say that my finds will be the one with the horse head item and old crack pipe looking item...Of course it's not a crack pipe but Schloopy and I thought it looked like one.....A turn of the century one at that!!!! Ha, ha. I will also post some pics of the items as they came out of the ground and some that were just lying on the ground......Easy digging I say.
I had the best hunting weekend...Haven't had this much luck in a long time. I ended up with 6 Indian head pennies (1890, 1900, 1901, 1904, 1906, 1907) one 1905 V-nickel and best of all a Key Date 1892-S Barber Dime....I've been very lucky lately..If you'll remember my post a couple of weeks ago when Schloopy and I hunted with Relikhunter in Kansas I pulled a 1897-S Key date Barber Qtr.....On a roll is all I can say and I ain't complaining....LOL!!!! I also found 7 tokens.....3 were beyond reading and broke in my hand but 4 came out nicely....One reads P.B. Doniphan, Excelsior Springs, MO....11th Street Pharmacy, another reads G.T. Harrison (with address) Good for 2 1/2 cents in trade, KC MO. Another reads 50 cent Molitor Drinks, and the last reads John's Dry Goods, Good for 1.00 in trade, KC MO. I also found some Baggage tags. One just has the letter E with the number 347 and the other actually has the Company name of B.A.M & Co and the number 24. Schloopy also found several tokens and number tags....His tokens were much nicer than mine. Another cool item I found was a pendant shaped like a bull with the words Bull Durham across the midsection of the Bull....I know that Bull Durham was the name of a Tobacco comany that was in existence from the mid 1800's to the early 1900's....That's what I've been told anyhow. Among our finds were other odds and ends....You will see in the pics...Neither Schloopy nor myself have a great camera so I did the best I could with the pics....Hope you enjoy them.
I love to hunt with good friends...We've decided to do this once a month or so...Next time it's at my place...We all have to hunt a CCC camp that I came across....It was supposed to be one of the biggest Camps in Mid Missouri and luckily it's on private property in which I've obtained permission to hunt it....Wish us luck ya'll.
Unfortunately Relikhunter couldn't make it this weekend....He plays in a band that he brags about (that I've yet to see perform) and couldn't make it. Hopefully he'll be there next time.....He just keeps you laughing the whole time you're hunting. I had to give Schloopy some medical boot advice this weekend....He had a blow out on his boot so I offered the fix, DUCT TAPE!!!!! Hunt till they fall apart I say and then tape em up! Those boots have now been given added milage. LOL!
Anyway, it was a great weekend with a great hunting partner and wonderful finds.....Thanks again Schloopy....I had a great time!

Hope you all enjoy the post....Until next time,

Pics of our finds are further down in the thread.....Forgot to post them initially....

Congratulations first, on a truly fantastic hunting buddy and then on those awesome finds!

Sounds like a GREAT time! Save me some of that tape too, Scott..I noticed a new hole in the knee of my favorite hunting pants last week! :D

Many congrats & see ya next week! :) Nana

Great finds there. I love the pics of the coins in the hole. Any chance we can see some pics of the finished products after cleaning. Those tokens sound very interesting.

Ok, forgot to post the pics of our finds.....Maybe that I'm still recovering from the Heat Stroke I almost had this weekend....Sorry the pics are crappy but it's the best I can do....One day I'll find that one treasure that'll pay for the camera I need....LOL

Evolution,

I never clean my coins. Well, I mean I do try and get the dirt of but I don't scrub them or anything... I just soak them some so the easy stuff comes off and then stick them in holders. I like them better that way... I may try and clean the Dime....Not sure yet, I'd hate to mess it up...Maybe Schloopy will clean his and scan them in....He found some great tags and tokens....His tokens were very nice and readable...

Were you dudes hunting cornfields?

Kirk,

I think they just cut hay out of the field....Didn't see any remnants of corn or anything else....All I know is that the owner said that it would be plowed soon....Guess where I'll be after that happens??????

WOW! Ya'll did fantastic! That's a great spot you hunted there.

I seriously need to move to a state that is over loaded with places to hunt

excellent finds.

Whine Whine Whine,,,lmao...Great looking finds rr!Look's like you and schloop kicked some butt!Sure wish i'd been there, although wished you both would of been with me!What a hoot. Will definitely make the next one.Just make sure you do it on a wkend when i'm off.Again great find's take care buddy i'll holler at you in a day or so. rh

Looks like you did good there soldier! Better than smoking camels in the desert any ol day.

nope not crackpipe but it could easily be a opium pipe instead drug use is nothing new --opium was smoked quite a bit in the old west days (you could by anything over the counter in the old days --opuim and other powerful drugs and drinks --incuding ladum (opium disloved in alcohol--very strong stuff) just by "asking" for it --it really was a DRUG store-- the govt put a stop to that in 1933 --opium was used alot by chinese labors and miners and wild and wooly old west types also-- bull durham was chawwing tabbacy -- also used by miners alot.

Congratulations on the great hunt and those great finds. Most of all it is great to have such great friends to hunt with. Certainly can't easily replace great friends especially ones that would take you to such an awesome spot.

what no tequila :D ;)
good times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

Scott,
Great finds! Weren't you just telling me that prime places were few and far between? I look forward to seeing you at the CTH. We can catch up on lost times and tell some tall ones. I am bringing some cold refreshments....Steve

Those are some really fantastic finds....and hunting with good friends is the best. I really like that Bull Charm/pendant....cool!

Hey all,

I sure appreciate all the replies.....So sorry I don't have a better camera....I feel I didn't do Schloopy nor myself any justice on the pics... Like I said, one day I'll get that camera and really be able to post our finds right...

Ed, wish you could be at the CTH hunt....I think it will be very productive since Burdie has done so much research on the area. Plus all the good times that will be had. Hopefully the next!!!!

Steve, those good spots have presented themselves through good friends. Now I have to be able to produce for them.....OMG....Hope I can live up to it.

I thank the rest of you for the looks and the follow up on the thread...

HH all,

RR
