This one is stamped 14K and the maker's mark seems like the real deal. I'll have the stone tested to see if it is a small (perhaps .25 carat) diamond.

Has a date stamped on the ring and it was shallow, perhaps 1/2'' down so may have been lost this year. I'll call the park district up to see if anyone reported a lost ring.

The ace had it ring up as a nickle.

Glad I was able to get out for 45 minutes after work!

Congrats on the gold OZ! Let's have a picture when you get a chance.

I hope the diamond is real... that would be awexome!

Nice deal. If it's 14k, and has engravings and a date, it very well could be and probably is a real diamond. I don't see why someone would go through all of that for a 14k gold ring with a fake stone.

Either way, you found gold. Nice score, hopefully more will come along.

We shall see tomorrow as I'll take it to the jeweler after work. I log my finds and since October 2005, I have found just 2 rings at the park and just a week apart so yah never know. Of course I still have no idea if the other ring is silver, gold or junk.

Beautiful! Gold trumps nickel anyday!

Nice going Oz!
Squeezing that hunt in today paid off. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I think it's the realMcCoy bud.

Sweet!!! My 14k gold and saphire ring came up as a nickel on my Ace 250 too!!!
Congrats!!! Lets see some pix :icon_pirat:

Called the park district up and they keep no records of reports of lost items. WTF ??? She said someone may come in and tell us to keep an eye out for something, but that is about it. Oh brother.

I have a police dispatcher that lives across the street from me and I'll check if there is a police report filed. With my luck I would get caught trying to sell a stolen ring :tongue3:

If they cared so much for it, they would have taken it off before roughhousing or playing soccer. It's yours. Sell it and reap the benefits!

I couldn't do that without at least trying to find an owner. Not only is it good PR for us (I'm just glad I don't live in a back-ass community that prohibits plugging), I like playing the investigator!

So far I have returned one ring which was relativity painless and I even had a cook county clerk look up the information(names and marriage date were on it) for me. They let me MD their property but just managed one Rosie. I gave their kids about $4 in clad (they had lost money everywhere) before keeping the last $3 and change for myself.

Right on Oz. Always try, just don't ever advertise finding a ring. Trust me. You will get many phone calls that go something like this,

Me: "Can you describe the ring?"

Caller: "Dam right, it's round and gold and it gots a hole in the middle where they finga goes and you better give it up or I'm callin the police."

Click.

I am a firm belever that if I find it, it is mine... :icon_pirat:
If it was expensive they should of had it insured. If it was insured, the insurance co would of already paid it out.

Yeah but all the money in the world can't buy the feeling that goes with seeing someone light up with a smile when they get something back that they thought was gone forever.

However even tiny fractional amounts of all the money in the world can bring a sense of financial security that lasts a lifetime and that feels pretty good too. And it gets you more batteries and bratwurst also.

Huge Congrats OZ!!!! That's gotta do something great for the value of the ring. I really hope you don't find the owner so you can keep it fair and square. I think it's worth a shot trying to find the owner if there is a way to ID the ring. That kind of thing just makes you feel more connected with humanity, instead of just always being out for ourselves. Way to go OZ!
