Only one really good find today, but it was a first for me. I believe it's a tombac button! The front is grayish and very smooth to the touch. The back has a large soldered shank and grooves on it like a vinyl record. It's 1" in diameter and in very nice condition.

Here's a few pics of the button:

Don't know for sure if it is a Tombac but it certainly is a nice old button. Congrats Tim on another great button:coffee2:

Thanks guys and thanks to Gary for confirming it as a tombac button.

Thanks! Very nice to see that I'm not the only one who appreciates old flat buttons. They're very common in some spots, but not in the spots I hunt! I usually have to put in a couple of hours of very slow detecting just to find one of them.

Sweet nice find! I just dug 11 dandy buttons just this past Sunday all in the same hole. Originally I thought I had a tombac buttons, but the treasure gurus alerted to me that they were just dandies. Anyway great find! Congrats!

really nice button

Nice looking Tombac. If you live in RI and hunt colonial sites, you will amass a pile of them!
