My wife asked me to go to DQ today so I went with her for a cone. She got a moolatte. Paid with a $10 and got $5.48 in change. I collect copper pennies so after she got change she handed me one copper penny as I held out my hand. She then handed me a quarter... 1954... as my chin dropped and my eyes got that hazy look, you know, that “is this really happening? look”. She then told me to go sit down while they made her moolatte. She then came to my table and put another quarter, 1952 on the table as it made that sweet “ching” sound when it hit the table. She said they messed her moolate up and had to make it again and as they did, she asked the young cashier if he had any more silver quarters in his drawer.... he went thru it and held up another old quarter... (oblivious)... and she asked if she could trade him a new quarter for it. He said “go for it.”

$4.52 for ice cream and moolatte.
$6.01 in change.

apparently, I didn’t have to dig today. It’s still out there!
