I bought this from a WW2 vet, who had sent it home from North Africa, he also sold me a Nazi army dress dagger and a K-98 bayonet. This appears to be hand made and the blade is marked "PureSteel Victory. On magnification it can be seen to be hollow ground and honed, it is very, very sharp. Any guesses?View attachment 1298641View attachment 1298642View attachment 1298643View attachment 1298644View attachment 1298645View attachment 1298646View attachment 1298647View attachment 1298648 The bird head on the pommel does not appear to be an eagle.

I'm marking this one as solved. As an aside though, I can see that the dagger was hand made with very few tools, I can even see where the steel of the blade was folded and hammer forged and the steel was scraped and polished. I myself have done all the work required to make this, including the casting and leather work, the only thing I've never tried is the engraving. That being said, I think it would take me about a month or more to make one, and I certainly wouldn't sell it for a few bucks. It just goes to show how desperate things can get, even for the guy (or gal) that made this knife, whoever it was had real talent.
