Found right in the middle of a Union Camp we have been hunting. It is not a heavy iron. It is not brass, pewter, aluminum, etc. Possibly tin or metal which has corroded in the ground for 150 years. Oval in shape with a lip that appears to have sealed or covered a container. As soon as my wife saw it (being a big drinker), she said maybe that was one of their coffee pot lids for the camp. Sounded like a really good guess to me. The holes in the metal are not for a purpose but rather from rot. I have included many pictures, weight, inside and outside diameters, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am attaching a link to our hunt of this camp for reference.
