CW cast iron whatsits

*update* hey all, the large cast iron fragment is still a what is it. I brought this thread back to the top to see if anyone else can figure it out. I initially thought shell or ball fragment but it seems more unusual to me, especially with the part sticking out on the side. It is from an early confederate battle position if that helps at all.

Went back out to the same site again, found some items which I believe to be period but I'm not sure. There is a bullet casing, some type of hook thing, and a very heavy fragment of some sort? It is rounded as the second picture shows. Thanks for any help.

If the cartridge case is a center fire it is after the civil war I am pretty sure. Monty

Nice ID! I have found several other horse related items from this campsite so that makes perfect sense.

Any other ideas for the large piece?
