Well, after a long hot summer I was finally able to return to the woods where I have recovered quite a few CW relics over the past few seasons. Some of my "Relic Buddies" from our spring 2011 hunt will know this area.
Within 5 minutes of being out there I received my first signal. It turned out to be a CW Enfield. No base mark.

Soon after that, I worked down the hill a bit and hit on a hot spot. I pulled three 3-ringers, another Enfield, and a Williams Cleaner within two hours. All six bullets were recovered within approx. a 50' radius.

My CW relics have all seemed to be found within small isolated patches in this wooded area.

The other finds for today out in the same area were asst'd lead pieces, a 1948 nickel, and a mystery piece. :dontknow:
Can't wait to get back out there.

Thanks for looking,
MM

It's a nickel. :tongue3: :laughing9: Sorry, I couldn't resist.
The other piece was ID'd above as being a piece from a trap. :dontknow:
Thanks,
Dug

Nice recoveries there Doug!!! Everytime I see the size of those bullets I can't help but think about how many casualties and lose of limbs there was during the CW. Those things are huge!!!

I'm with you on that one. You could almost throw one of those bullets and knock someone out. :o

Me too. Some may think digging CW bullets is no big deal, but I still get excited digging each and every one of them.
Thanks,
Doug

Hey Doug, fun to watch you trying to film and dig at the same time! ;D
I always take a picture of my find 'after' it comes out of the hole, that way I won't be disappointed! :laughing7:
That looks tough, I see you use the same Lesche Sampson digger as I do!
You did a great job man!

Thanks Dave. I haven't quite gotten that filming while I dig thing mastered yet. :tongue3: Also I need to learn how to combined numerous videos into one. :icon_scratch:
As far as that digger, it has been fantastic. I've worn it down quite. They are durable as heck though.
Good luck out there this weekend. Don't dig up any more bones either. :laughing9:

I hear yeah buddy, I sharpen my Lesche every couple of weeks! No more bone finds of late either . . . now that I know what 'pig bones' look like! :laughing7: Tomorrow after I take my daughter to her tennis lesson, I'm going to hit an old church yard that I got permission to hunt this past spring.

Best of luck to you as well Doug, not much detecting time left up here with the cold weather setting in! :'(
Dave
