Don't know if I have ever mentioned it but my wife and I have our hands full raising a 20 year old, 193 lbs, special needs son. He's 100% incontinent and has no speech whatsoever. This after already having raised a 30 year old son and 26 year old daughter. I've just gone back to work this past Sept too so needless to say there is little time for anything let alone metal detecting. So if I don't post or comment on your finds it doesn't mean I'm not looking and admiring as a lurker. I did just step down to 4 days a week so maybe we'll be a little more active in the farm fields. Lord I hope so.

Anyway, here's what we've found the last 4 or 5 trips out. We can only do 4 hrs at a time as thats all the respite we can get at a time from our son. I got the half cut 2 reales as my last find yesterday around 3pm. The cufflinks just before. I had my Deus cranked to 99 sens, 0 disc, 3 reactivity and -1 silencer, manual gb at 87. What i was doing was eking out finds in the dense iron bed. Lots of promise with this method. Its only good for the iron bed of course. What it seems to be doing is amplifying the non ferrous tones. But you have to listen close. This cut 2 reales is hands down the worst sounding silver reale I ever dug. But I took the chance on the crappy signal and it was a nice surprise. The cuff links have what appears to be silver or tinned material under the glass gems and show what may be 4 leaf clovers. I want to clean them but scared to take the chance.

I dug the other cut Spanish when we were last out. My wife got the pillar half reale and the Conn copper B4 that. I still need to brush off the 1831 large cent but it looks to be a real keeper. I dug a small cannon ball (will be making a video soon) and my wife found what may be a gun flint.

HH, Gary and Jo

You got some great results for the time you put in

Thanks for the responses guys. If you look at the pics of the cufflinks you'll notice the little oyster flecks. Most everything at this site was found atop or in the vicinity of the gigantic colonial oyster midden and I believe the high PH has helped keep much of the finds in excellent condition. Instead of them being pitted and corroded they are encrusted with dirty calcifications. Its clear the old plowing has moved the very top layer of the midden all through the entire site. So I suspect a bit of lemon juice could be used on the linked buttons and then maybe I could use a toothpick to finely work at them. Still scared to try! lol

Its just me and the wife on the site and so we'll need some manpower to make any headway digging pits. Its too much for just the two of us. Hint, hint.

Well rewarded for taking a few hours off to recharge the mind & body. Congrats on the coppers, links, awesome silver! Liking the patina on the 18thC Bullion weight also, very nice recovery.

I’m in my truck right now with 2 screens! See ya soon lol. My new Deus landed today too. That should help

Man, those cut Spanish coins have great details. One heck of a site you got there. Huge congrats!!

Stellar hunt on an obviously stellar spot.

Well done and then some.

Your cuts are textbook examples and the half cut is a rare one.

Because of its crisp and unusual nature the half is a...

BANNER... all day long in my book.

Glad to see you're back at it Gary, and in fine fashion. Great looking silver and I love those cufflinks. Hope you can continue to find time to dig before planting starts soon. Nice post!

Beautiful finds and hats off for being strong with your circumstances. That takes a toll. Luckily we have this soothing hobby.

Sweet digs Gary! That Cut half blows me away with its unc detail! Scarce to say the least! The buttons take the cake for me as you know I'm a relic buff! Congrats to you and Jo. Awesome quality time to say the least! Maybe we can get out and dig that pit together some day!!

Awesome finds. That cut half is absolutely beautiful! :occasion14:

Always envious of your finds and sites. Some gorgeous crisp detail on the Spanish but those links are killer man! Please please please dig some pits buddy. I’m begging you! You will lose your mind when you see what’s hiding in there
I finally agree with Abe for once, those links are beautiful. Congrats on the awesome finds Gary!

Well, bored today and cleaned up the cufflinks. Looks to be a possible slight variant of the Queen Anne monogram? Very cool even if not. Right time frame for site.
