My friend came down from wv to do a little colonial hunting. We hit one of my old spots and he dug a couple large cents a 1817 and a 1820s. He got a handful of buttons and pieces of buckles. The digging was ok in the woods but the fields were frozen. So I staid in the woods waiting until the fields thawed more. I got a low signal and looked like a tombac came out until I cleaned it and seen it was a half reale 1781. My second silver of the day, soon as we got there I got a 1852 3 cent piece. We hit a new permission across the street and digging was hard with the top 2 inches frozen still. Found nothing but aluminum. So hit field next to it and got a few buttons. On way back to car I hit the new field again and after several pieces of junk out popped my first cut coin a 1/4 of a 8 reale. I couldn't believe it. Digging all that junk finally paid off and found out my new site wasnt a bust. Went back Sunday and found my oldest coin a 1720s kg1. And a couple more buttons. Lots of junk but has a few keepers hidden. HH! Oh and I got one marines button 1820-30S.
