Got out with HEAVYMETALNUT and his hunting partner Todd to some sites i mapped out there on the tri state line.:icon_thumleft:

The day actually started pretty good with large Colonial coat buttons from Todd then he pulls a beauty of a chain, bracelet unknown still relic..:dontknow:

Well we decided to pass another large cellar and work our way back from the other side of the few mile long old wagon road seeing there were 3 more cellars down the end...:icon_thumleft:

Upon walking all three of us dip in the woods to check out some walls..Walking through for a while we decided to head back on the trail and this is where the day got interesting..

I exit on the trail then Dave jumps out behind me and walks to the far right of the trail next to me when his Butt tears apart
a football sized white faced hornets nest..:o
I hear screaming like someone is being murdered and he plowed right through me like a linebacker knocking my detector right out of my hands..Then they started attacking me too..So i started running and screaming when i see Dave do a face plant right over some rocks in the trail..He was all banged up and my arms were stung..So there is our detectors laying on the ground next to the nest..I went to grab them and one attacked me and stung me in the eye..

We gathered our senses and hike many more miles only to find pounded to death sites..So we hiked miles back to the car..

Decided to hit another Cellar near my house we had to hike a couple miles to..Ended up grabbing a 1797 DB large cent pretty nice shape and a old Colonial copper with a strange edge..:dontknow:
After tallking to Dave today he had an xray and has a chipped knee.:sad1:

This dude hiked like 10 miles with a chipped knee......
All to not ruin our day and keep it hardcore...:headbang::headbang:

Anyone know what Todds relic find is???He also found the Token at the last site..

Blaze

Hey Johnny Blaze, sorry to hear all about the misfortunes you guys encountered. But the bright side is you guys found some sweet coins and relics, Congrats!!!!!!!

The token is a hard times token from Andrew Jackson's administration. (1837). The saying was common. for the time.

Johnny B. Almost stepped in a yellow jackets nest once. Only got stung once....in the back of the fore arm. Would like ashot at ID'ing your 1797. Would need better closeups of the back especially. Clean 'er up nice and repost. There are many different so maybe Don and I can see what variety you have. Great detail so we may get this one. Congrats to you all! Hogge
Hogge i would appreciate that if you could:occasion14:

No hornet nest pics J.B.? You guys made some nice recoveries despite the usual adventures. Those Arkansas fire ants are an adventure when we hunt there even in December. WTG, Q.

Pretty sure S-139....Common. I do not have picks of the rarer varieties. But yours does line up with the die cracks seen. Spacing on obverse is correct. The bulge you see on left obverse is from die failure. This bulge goes through to the reverse where the "TED" is gone. Your coin was probably minted at the end of the run, where die failure caused this to happen. Thought 140 but obverse doesn't line up. Can someone confirm? Really nice condition on this one! Hogge

Great finds you guys.... but damn.... sounds like you went through hell. I thought I was sore from my cave filming adventure yesterday... but you guys make me feel better. Guess I need to man up!!! Good job.

Awesome finds. Sorry to hear about the hornets. As a kid I jumped a fence onto a rotten log full of yellow jackets in a back field.
Over 75 stings, so I'm not a big fan of those buggers.

Wow, very nice finds. Congrats....

here's a scaled pic so,you guys can see the size of the chain.looks like it had a 3 point attachment at the bottom of oval piece

If that is what a cursed day looks like, I sure would like to one one of your good ones.

That's quite a story Blaze. Sorry you guys had to pay a heavy price for your relics, but looks like it may have been worth it. Some nice coins there, and I'm very impressed with that cool looking bracelet or whatever that is. Nice going guys!

Nice looking finds Dave:icon_thumright:

I really think that was an 18th Century English watch fob chain:dontknow:

One end hooked on the person, the other end hooked the watch. And the key, winder would hang from the Decor part..
Also dual fobs were popular in women i believe..

Blaze

You guys are hard core for sure! Those hornets are rough but you guys powered through it to have a pretty good day. :occasion14:

And some unidentified finds from the hike:icon_scratch:

But i think HMN buried Todd for all his finds:laughing7:
