Got out with HEAVYMETALNUT and his hunting partner Todd to some sites i mapped out there on the tri state line.:icon_thumleft:

The day actually started pretty good with large Colonial coat buttons from Todd then he pulls a beauty of a chain, bracelet unknown still relic..:dontknow:

Well we decided to pass another large cellar and work our way back from the other side of the few mile long old wagon road seeing there were 3 more cellars down the end...:icon_thumleft:

Upon walking all three of us dip in the woods to check out some walls..Walking through for a while we decided to head back on the trail and this is where the day got interesting..

I exit on the trail then Dave jumps out behind me and walks to the far right of the trail next to me when his Butt tears apart
a football sized white faced hornets nest..:o
I hear screaming like someone is being murdered and he plowed right through me like a linebacker knocking my detector right out of my hands..Then they started attacking me too..So i started running and screaming when i see Dave do a face plant right over some rocks in the trail..He was all banged up and my arms were stung..So there is our detectors laying on the ground next to the nest..I went to grab them and one attacked me and stung me in the eye..

We gathered our senses and hike many more miles only to find pounded to death sites..So we hiked miles back to the car..

Decided to hit another Cellar near my house we had to hike a couple miles to..Ended up grabbing a 1797 DB large cent pretty nice shape and a old Colonial copper with a strange edge..:dontknow:
After tallking to Dave today he had an xray and has a chipped knee.:sad1:

This dude hiked like 10 miles with a chipped knee......
All to not ruin our day and keep it hardcore...:headbang::headbang:

Anyone know what Todds relic find is???He also found the Token at the last site..

Blaze

That jewelry looks like it will open a door in "National Treasure". Look around for more clues. :)

But seriously - nice finds!!!!

You guys got some good stuff there. Definitely worth all the hard work. I know what you mean about hiking miles and miles and finding sites that are virtually hunted out. My buddy and I have done our share of that this year as well. Those hornets are no joke.... Mean suckers!!. I remember running a lawn mower over a yellow jacket nest when I was a kid.... got stung about 15 or 20 times. I've never been stung in the eye though... Ouch!!.

Good job, great finds! Be careful around those hornets the buggers can kill you with a sting to the head the venom's quite potent! Reminds me to always carry wasp/hornet spray w/me! Thanx and hope you have better luck next time.HH

You poor dudes.. hope you're both okay. Is your friend gonna be able to function at work or md? You got some cool stuff but Damn that's a bad day. Good luck to you both.

Great condition on all those nice finds. Esp the DB.
That chain thing is pretty awesome. Interested to see what you may find out about it.
The other copper is a Great Britian GEO III 1806 or 07 half penny.

At least you found some really cool stuff.

Wow JB, that's a wild story! I've run into the ground hornets before while digging in the woods, but those white faced hornets are mean mf'ers. Sorry to hear about all the hardships you guys had, but I see some nice finds there. The hard times token is a sweet find, as is the 1797 DB (did someone hit it on the edge with a hammer?). I feel the star shaped pendent is late colonial to about 1810. I found a ring with a similar pattern on a 1770 - 1810 site.

I'm disappointed you didn't take the time to get a picture of the hornets nest :laughing7:

Nice coins and artifacts!

i wont post my button and pewter spoon bowl but here's my injuries! it still hurts like a mamma jamma!

Is your knee gonna be okay? I'm sorry you had such a messed up day.

Johnny B. Almost stepped in a yellow jackets nest once. Only got stung once....in the back of the fore arm. Would like ashot at ID'ing your 1797. Would need better closeups of the back especially. Clean 'er up nice and repost. There are many different so maybe Don and I can see what variety you have. Great detail so we may get this one. Congrats to you all! Hogge

:censored: doggone JB you all will go the extra mile for the older digs but :sunny: I def would cross that area off my list as ...

" fun place's to visit in the summertime " .

dawg

Hey JB,
