CTX - Waterproof ear buds

I would be interested to learn to try to do this myself. Seems like a fun project.

I really like the ear buds with the wireless unit. I tried them wired today and hated it. Can, you might want to try them wired before you go through the trouble of the mod because it might not be something you like. They just kinda pulled with the machine since they are connected to your ear unlike regular headphones and I could see how they would break pretty easily because the wires are so small, especially with water current. Now with the wireless unit they are awesome. Definitely worth testing though.

I need to give the GGUW another run to see how they work but its just too hot out so the ear buds are my go to headphones for now. I know there is a mod to make the GGUW louder. From what I have been reading on another forum the GGA mod is not really any better than the GGUW...maybe just a tad on the CTX. I think I saw a chart OBN posted one time showing the sound difference and it wasn't much, in fact, the each heaphones were louder than one another on different targets...OBN, do you have that chart?

If I go into the water I'm using my excal/CZ...but on the beach I really love the CTX right now. That 17'' coil is awesome. I went to a very competitive beach by me this morning and literally couldnt walk more than a few steps without another hit. They were all 12''+ so it was a real pain to dig them all. I didn't find anything great but tons of clad but usually on this beach I am lucky when I find a penny because its so cleaned out and this morning I left with a pouch full of clad and some junk jewelry. I cant wait to try my normal good spots this week since it will be low tide in the morning when I can get out there.

I really wish I had the time to do this stuff again and help everyone out, Seems like since I retired from the real world I still have very little time, I know it sure flies....but I am very blessed. If you can just send this post to me this winter, if your still interested You will inter......... "the inner sanctum". But just you Sir Can...I am fully retired from all modifications but enjoy helping once and awhile.

This will be my shallow/underwater machine. So I am going to need a water proof connection.

If I had the proper connector, I would likely be able to amplify the signal with some sort of Transistor Mod & the proper end adapter. Attaching the wires doesn't sound too difficult, but the problem may lie in the amplification due to small wires running to the prongs; If anybody has a bust set of headphones W/ CTX adapter and a pair a waterproofs... I would love to try the mod and then ship to you for experimenting. Fun part will be waterproofing the cuts and the transistor...
