I'm not kidding. Thought my buddy was nuts when he told me he kept getting 12-35,36 reading and when he went to scoop he kept hitting a horseshoe crab. The next one I saw I swung over and wouldn't you know it, crab:icon_scratch:. 12-35 equals zinc penny in my parts. Another fellow had a Whites beach hunter and couldn't hear anything. Can a horseshoe crab have enough zinc in its body that a CTX is sensitive enough to pick it up? If you don't believe me, and you have a CTX, try it. Gl HH Mike

ive had some ocean organics read off before - electric sting rays are ones you have to watch out for - had one go up my swim trunks - Whydah was next to me an witness it - it gave me a few good zaps - luckily I had lycra bike shorts on too

Not sure what's worse. Those critters up your pants or biker shorts:)

Too funny lol! I'd wear a bikini with g-string if it helped find a quarter of what Casper finds.

I usually always wear some sort of lycra under my swim suits - stops thigh rash - especially in waters with micro coral in it
stops jelly fish getting up there also
and I can change in parking lots in the open - by just leaving the lycra on - I can pull a dry swim suit back over them

It's the copper in their blood
Unlike vertebrates, horseshoe crabs do not have hemoglobin in their blood, but instead use hemocyanin to carry oxygen. Because of the copper present in hemocyanin, their blood is blue. SS

I figured it was something along those lines. It was either that or what they eat. Thanks for the info. I'm still surprised the CTX can pick that up.

It will pick up stingrays too..... normally that target disappears real quick.....

Crabs set off my excel. also the little sand crabs if they are in a big group. I've gotten a signal and when the scoop comes out its filled with them

Excal sometimes hits on big sea clams, thought and believe it maybe from the digestion of black sand packed into the belly!?!
