Cru'Teams Gold Coin Collection...

This is Cru'Dad & I's total collection of gold coins. Roughly speaking I found 70% of them. I still remember as a kid when I joined this great hobby & all I wanted to find was just 1 Celtic Gold. However, it took at least 20 years to get my first, but everyone is a golden memory!
One such memory is the 1777 Guinea that Cru'Dad found. He went on a short weekend caravanning holiday & decided to take along the detector. On arriving he asked the owner if he could have a quick go around his land & the OK was given. After a couple of hours of digging the usual junk he got 1 last signal before it was too dark to see. With very little enthusiasm he dug what he knew would be another piece of junk, only to be faced with that little beauty. The landowner was more than surprised/grateful when Cru'dad showed him & offered him more cash to keep it, than they had spent on the weekend pitch....lol

Just added this one!

Amazing collection Cru. Which is your most valuable gold coin?

Second Row, Third from Left. Celtic Gold Coin - £1000

What a beautiful treasure collection, truely what dreams are made of in detecting!!

No this is my lifetimes collection of gold coins, I find them impossible to be parted from. We have spent a lot of money to keep them. Some take the cash, some just let us have them.

I agree, I see no reason to sell any finds unless absolutely necessary. I do have some finds that I put on loan at the local museum though.

That is one heck of a collection...

UPDATED THE PICTURE.

Includes this years 2 gold coins & the first Celtic Gold that we will gift to the owner.

That is truly an astounding collection of gold coins you have found.

As for the Celtic coins, are some of them alloyed with copper or another type of metal?

The smallest one looks very tiny, to pull that out of a vast field shows your skill!

One of the Celtic Gold is plated & not solid. These are thought to be period counterfiets. Nothing much changes.

The smallest one I remember well. It was in a very trashy field that I had been clearing for many years until it came to light.

Well the only thing that might actually be cooler than a Celtic gold coin--would be a period counterfeit! Very interesting. Thanks for posting the pics, was fun to see them.

Very impressive ! How does it work when it comes to reporting those to the PAS?

I record all my rare coins (Celtic) but there is nothing in the Law to say I have to, as long as they are single finds. 2 or more in close proximity I have to report as potential Treasure. (Never happened yet)

I'm new to detecting so I do not know these laws. Can you give me any tips on laws like the one you posted above. Not that I have found any rare coin. But I can dream.

AH LOOK AT ALL THOSE CHOCOLATE CANDI COINS . DANG WHAT AN AWESOME SITE TO SEE CRU AND FREINDS CONGRATS ..

Thanks for the clarification. I wish we had that in France too !

Which Country are you in?

If you are in the UK, the most important part of the Law is that all finds belong to the Land-Owner until an agreement is made. Therefore, an understanding of the 1996 Treasure Act is essential. The Govt (Museums) only have a right to buy them off the Finder (who has an agreement, normally 50/50) & Landowner if they are over 300 years old & contain 10% or more Gold or Silver.(Excluding single gold or silver coins) But the Act has been revised to include Bronze Age hoards of axes for example.
