Got out for the first time in 5 days, been super dry but couldn't take it any longer[emoji12] revisited a late 1800's farm house I've only been to twice before, didn't find any silver but I'm convinced there's 1 or 2 waiting..maybe next time, anyway ended up with a nice key just wish I could say the same for the large cent.HH everyone & do a little rain dance for the eastern shore of Maryland please[emoji4]

Don't see square holes in coins very often! The old skeleton key is in great shape.

I really like those old big keys. Heck,Ionce found a large cent where they punched a hole through it large enough to use it as a washer.

Thanks thrifty, most of my large cents are in very poor condition..the soil around here is killer.

Much better than a crusty large skeleton!

huh a rectangular hole in a LC!, very cool!

I agree with Thrifty76now. I have found a few Large Cents with rectangular & round holes right in the center. Someone needed a makeshift washer, & that's how they did it. Nice skeleton key also.

Rain dance is needed for all of us on the east coast it appears- ground in my back yard in virtually dust and I live on the cape! Nice finds anyway though!!

Love the "personalized" large cent, and actually prefer the coins that are holed. I know that kills the value, but I never sell anything anyway. Any chance you'll be able to pull a date?

Tho I don't "Prefer" them holed, I do like them , Also makes Buying them Cheaper.
Also always Curious as to what made the hole , Dug a Capped Half Dime Holed with a small Square Nail , It actually
to me looks better Than the Capped Dime With a big 'X' scratched into both Sides from the same site.

Cool finds digndeep.....
Is the Aluminum piece with Numbers on it 'A bird ,or Animal Tag' ?

How much behind for the year are y'all in the NE behind in Rain Fall? Or has it been a Shorter Dry Spell?

Thanks davers,I thought the same thing when I dug it but after looking closer I think not,it's made too thin to stay on an animal for any length of time.
