As some are already aware, I’m a newbie.

But this is driving me out of my mind. Using my 540 Vanquish, strong 24-26, shallow, should be good to go, and……….another Busch Light can. Lord Jesus, help me…………

Can any of you guys enlighten me about what I’m just not catching on to? I’m learning as fast as I can, and I have picked up on more than a few tricks over the last few months, but I get fooled time and time again on these things.

What am I missing here?

I hate doing it but I dig them on the off chance the elusive CW Plate is under my coil.

I liked that,I wish he,d be around when some of these idiots dump their ashtrays out on the sidewalk.
smokers are the worst. Like their filter butt does not count as litter. Saw a young girl at a stop light with her hand with her cigarette out the window like she does not want the smoke in her car. In her lungs killing her slowly, well that was ok.
go figure.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of bozos on our planet that think littering is their right. Watch what happens to this bozo...

well done !!1

If you dig it ALL you will never have to guess what you passed up

This was the frustrating part for metl too. Like the OP, it was super frustrating.

I went from an "analog" MXT to a "digital" Equinox 800, and it really hurt the way I could hear what was in the ground. I switched to a Deus a yes later, and that helped a little, hearing what the target was, I mean.

So it's kind of a patience thing now. Realize we've all been there, and dig all the signals.

When you get a pouch full of trash on a Sunday, it sure is frustrating, but hang in there.

I was hunting my front yard 12 years ago and decided I would pass on the overload crushed can, I then decided to dig it to just get it out of the way. It was a silver engraved 1lb railroad pocket watch.

Fast forward to 2015. I was metal detecting an older part of town and could visibly see trash including cans and walked away from a 91-92 signal overload me 2" deep. My detecting buddy came in the next week and cleaned up the half dozen cans. That signal I passed up? It was an 1857S Seated Half Dollar in AU. I offered him $2500 and he refused. My lesson is learned.

I personally think that you should dig them. Try experimenting with a can, see if there is a change in the signal between that and a coin. I find that the pinpoint button can help you determine how long a target is on the equinox, I believe it is the same a s a vanquish.

Seems like we spend a lot of money hoping the machine can help them figure out what to dig. Only to end up digging it anyway!

In 2008 I was told, if you are going to dig nickels you are going to dig trash.
I have yet to prove that wrong...

Most times I know it’s a can or pull tab before digging but you kind of have to. What drives me nuts is tin/aluminum foil. It rings usually 5-6 higher than a can. A lot of old farms/ tobacco farms in my area. It’s what you used before baggies were invented.

well unfortunately nickels, aluminum foil and several other things ring up in gold range so if you do not dig any of those you could very well be passing up gold items the only way to know is to dig everything

Some of those Crushed Beer can Signals do Turn out to be Walker & Barber Halfs.
One even turned out to be a Clad Ike Dollar.

I've also Dug Clad Quarters under Crushed Beer Cans

So don't be so Quick to let them There.
NEVER just "let them there". heh

You dig it... put it in the trash foo

"dug a 20 oz never opened full bud light lime"

Did this make banner 🤣
Oh yeah... i found a full Corona with NO lime. heh.

I have found lots of full beers on beaches... i mean a lot... especially after fourth of July... that seems to be the most times i have found em..

It seems people bury beer in order to loophole the "no alcohol " spots... and the under agers are famous for in ground "coolers".

And when i said above "a lot" i mean a lot.

Good for you... This is the right way ... unfortunately its a pain sometimes... but it is the unwritten code.

Not only that... but IF YOU toss it back down.... YOUR littering. heh
