I can tpin down the exact timeframe, but for one that large it would have been a "hat device". oh, and the crossed sabers are the emblem of the cavalry.

I do believe it is a hat device. It is too large for a button and the brass disc is too thin to be a button. My thinking is around WW1 or earlier. But that is why I am here. I do not know and have been looking for years.

Concur with ffuries, Cavalry collar disc, I don't think it is that old, WWII or after that.

Are there traces of red paint in the one handle? Also. they don't appear to be as detailed as some of the collar discs or hat badges I have seen. And, one last question, is it convex or flat?

This badge measures 1 5/8" across and made of brass. I can find similar sabers but not a disc of this size. What time frame was this used for forum?

It is convex. I have lots of Cavalry collar discs but not anything like this one. It must be a hat device. We will figure it out. Lots of knowledge on here.

There is some red enamel on the one saber guard. I have been collecting medals for years and never have had one like this one. I am guessing that the saber attachment on the back side had a pin clasp for fastening. The attachment has enough gap to show there is room for one.
