I went to Las Vegas this weekend and noticed that in addition to the stacks of chips, every black jack dealer had a stack of 50 cent pieces. Depending on the table it looked like they had anywhere from $30-$50 in halves. Of course the CRH side of me saw a golden opportunity. I just stopped by each table, casually glanced at their halves stack, and then moved on. I got to one table and sure enough, the coin on the very bottom of the stack had that beautiful silver edge. The table was really busy, so I couldn't quite butt in so I waited until 3 people cashed out at the same time. I asked the dealer if I could buy two half dollars. She said sure and put the top two on the table. I then asked if it was ok if I got the two from the BOTTOM of her stack? She said "Aren't they all the same?" I said they were, but I collect coins so they are different to me. So she pulls out the bottom two and low and behold, is a Franklin!! I was so shocked!
It was the only silver I scored, but I was thrilled to walk out of there with a 1963 Ben! I'm sure those halves had to pass through a lot of hands before they made their way to the gaming floor. I was shocked I was that lucky that a Franklin half made it through unnoticed!
