Example. Bar rooms have a juke box for a reason.
people stick around if they like the atmosphere.
In order to assure the machine gets started at the beginning of the night,
the bar tender may throw a few quarters in. or hand some to
a patron to start it up. knowing the patrons will either like or dislike the music, and feed the machine. in order to keep count of profit vs.
greasing , they will mark the coins. some with stamps, some just paint a few quarters . only nickel machines I seen lately were restaurant booth juke boxes

One in Atlantic City places Highly polished nickels in a little cup next to them
for patrons to use. when they clean them out, they only count the tarnished nickels as profit, and return the polished ones to the cups.
