Hey Guys and Gals
My girlfriend and I took out the artifact boat out for a little while and hunted down some creeks in Tennessee. The weather was great and we fished a while and tried some new artifact spots. We did not find that much but did get two decent ones. Found lots of pottery and some broke bases and one large (broke) Blade tip. Here are the pictures in the mud and in hand. A Picture of what our view was coming back up ole man river and a picture of the hound. He was attacking every fish we reeled in and had more fun watching him than anything. I forgot to shoot all the brokes and pottery but it was a tackle box full so we feel this new area might be OK to put on our list of hunts.
Hope you all had a great weekend. First pretty weekend here in months.
Any thoughts on an I.d on the black bifurcated base point are very welcome. Hope you enjoy.
Regards ,

Yes its less than an hour away.Have not been though in a long time. It gets a little crowded for me.I always enjoyed biking Cades Cove and climbing chimneys. You need to check them out.
yep, i dont do the malls and tourist traps. we hike and check out the waterfalls and other sites. camped in cherokee, caught trout for breakfast.

Re: Tennessee River Hunt 5-31

Can anybody ID the material the pink & white bevel's made of ?

Looks like it might be either Flintridge or Burlington, but neither would seem all that likely in Tennessee. (?)

I dont think I have any others in my frames of that color either. I will check. That is something I have always wanted to learn more about. What would you recommend for my area ?
Thank you. I found some wild material today also and will do a post tonight love to hear your thoughts on the material.
Ooops
I just modified my reply. My G/F has one like this but its all white with the pink bulls eye its under the other post I have on here of her finds on Tn tiver in the red frame. I think her point was a guntersville.

Re: Tennessee River Hunt 5-31

From the beveling, it's about got to be Archaic.

Is it a uniface ? (other side smooth with no flakes out of it ?)

Sometimes in the Early Archaic era, choice material is found far from home indeed as it also is from Paleo). So there's no reason why it couldn't be Burlington.

Nice piece :icon_thumleft:

Re: Tennessee River Hunt 5-31

Hello
It was out of a collapsed bank on the Tennessee river. It makes it difficult at times because you can find Paleo to Dallas period and then a trade axe all at one level seconds from being sucked into the river. Many of the sights are over ten feet deep with miden. This came from a very old site. The back is knapped but had a step fracture that I think scared them and they ended up beveling the one edge to save the pretty material. I appreciate your knowledge and help.Have collected my whole life and am now just starting to learn all over again. Good news is had a good hunt today.
Thanks
