crazy heavy 'egg' 'rock'...

i am so very fortunate to be hunting through a pre civil war barn, that has been stuffed by each owner and never cleared... I know, AWESOME!
I came across this on the lower level, just inside the 'foundation' (crumbling).... it is not just a rock... what are your thoughts?

Howdy djg,

Welcome to the TNet, and thanks for showing us your egg. Whether stone, or glass, they were used by the farmer to induce the chickens to lay more eggs.

"On the farm the plain white eggs had several uses: they were placed in an outside nest (usually on the ground) to encourage the hen to lay in the same place (so the farmer could easily find the eggs), and inside the coop they were placed in the nesting box to help induce a hen to begin laying eggs." I thought it was big for a false egg. I would still have it checked out by a pro. When my chickens got slack on egg production, all I had to do was put a picture of Colonel Sanders in the hen house. Got more eggs than I could use:laughing7:. Tony
