From the land of the Bluenose.....woke up to an empty bed and a hint of sunlight peeping through the blinds. Marie had gone to work and the sun behind the snow clouds. It was going to be one of those days.....and I was off after 7 12 hour shifts in a row. What the halibut might as well go for a walk on the tundra and drag the old Garrett along. Asked Rutgar if that was good by him and he just pointed his paw at his hat!
Knew there was something that I forgot but just couldn't put a finger on it so out the door I went and climbed into a very cold Otto thinking that it must be that I didn't do the dishes or make the bed. No problemo me son I'll do it when I get back. Putting Otto into gear and on stealth mode I cranked up Pink Floyd and headed to the big tree more for the scenery than the chance of finding some goodies .
Well she was a tad chilly and it wasn't long before every extremity on my body was numb in keeping with my grey matter for going out a digging on such a day. Took my gloves off and leaned the Garret against the tree and rubbed the feeling back into my fingers as I admired the view and looked at the hole that was once the foundation of a coach stop.
Warmed up I continued to swing slowly and got a few good signals that took a good 10 minutes to retrieve in the frost which , once through gave way to mud. Notice the use once again of the high tech digging device!
Digging was an arduous task and I was praying deep inside that I didn't get a good signal. Did have to do 4 knee bends to find these...my take for the hour in the artic!
Well I was starting to get too cold so away into the oncoming snow storm I rode Otto right to the nearest Tim's and a hot brewski with double milk. Was like fire going down and was "sum gud youz!" It was here with my java that it hit me; that nagging voice in the back of my head telling me I had forgotten something else. Lord love a duck it was Valentine's Day. If I forget that it I would be deeper in the mud than a clam. So off I go to the Micmac Mall in hopes of finding a suitable icon of my undieing love for Marie and maybe a quick hello to my daughter who is working there. After maybe..........45 minutes I found something which I hope she'll like.
Of course I put a romantic note in with them and I quote, "No dear I did not dig these up!" kayla on the other hand was not to be found so homeward bound did this bouy head. Again that nagging voice in the back of my head called out...darn and double dam. Time to go see Dr. Sundar Patrick Seetharamadoo for my yearly blood tests and finger wave! No wonder I forgot that one. Well me son it was like a cold popsicle with sand all over it and I'll leave it at that and to boot I was still half frozen.
Got home and headed to the mailbox and was delighted to get a postcard from George who is on vacation and anxious to swing his machine there.
Added bonus was the nice stamp he used which will make a nice addition to my collection.
Hope he finds a ton! Of course I got mine when I went to the computer to do this post.
