This old park is TRASHY beyond belief and has been hit hard in the past by everyone in the county.

I've been picking away at it for a handful of years with 3 different machines and numerous coils and settings.

Using an Equinox with a 6" coil, in Field 2, and with LOW sensitivity I was able to squeak out a few more keepers.

An 1876 seated dime, an 1847 large cent, and an 183? large cent with initials J.K. etched in.

It's fun to pull keepers out of a place that others have abandoned. They're not there in numbers, but they're still there.

Wow, congratulations on your persistence. And you have some nice finds as a result. You also have advanced MD skills. I never would have thought to lower the sensitivity. One would think just the opposite would be better. It worked so one can't argue.

That seated dime is in nice condition for sitting all those years. Amazing.

Outstanding finds - congrats !

I've also hunted a bunch of nasty sites that were loaded with old iron and other junk metal.
You have to have a lot of patience, move real slow and work real hard to isolate the good targets - but it often results in some great finds that others before you - just walked over.

Great finds. That dime is especially nice. I have the Equinox and the small coil. I might try dropping the sensitivity too around some trashy areas I have been revisiting lately. Congrats!

Thanks all.

After you think you picked a site clean, try higher frequencies or higher SMF sets, smaller coil, and lowered sens.
Like E-Trac-Ohio said, low and slow too.

Lastly, I like to hit it with a tiny concentric coil instead of a DD and pick through trash with higher freqs and lower sens.

Wow! Nice finds for a "worked out park!" Great coins! Thanks for sharing and congratulations!

Small coils are fantastic.
I used a 6" Detech Excelerator coil on my E-Trac 100 % of the time for over 5 years - countless great finds !

Nice finds. Way to stay after it.

I love the challenge of hunting those trashy, hard-hit places. You have the right mindset and formula, so no doubt you'll find even more! That Seated dime is cherry (got a 77CC a few hours ago)- Congrats!!

VERY nice find Dave :) Thanks for sharing . Did we do this park once ?

We did.
I only use 6" DD, a 5" concentric, and a 7.5x4" DD there. Even my 7" concentric can't find keepers there anymore.
Good targets are only 6-7" down, but they're in the nastiest trash. That giant flat area with the huge trees. Good news is that most of the clad has been picked through by others.

Both of those largies sounded really iffy and were being down-averaged into the high teens on the Equinox.
Once the plug was cut and the junk was removed they rang right back up into the mid 30's

Thanks for the reply Dave :) I hope you and your family are doing well !!

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

Wow! It really paid off for you. Some nice old coins there worth the wait. :occasion14:
I come up to Cleveland to visit our grandkids a lot, but never feel safe around there so I leave my detector at home. That's a very trashy place too.
Can't wait to see what else you find.

Your patience paid off nicely. Hope you can find more.
